Richard Ayuso, OD has been a practicing optometrist since 1983. Originally from Staten Island, New York, he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Fairfield University in Connecticut. He received his optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry in Manhattan. After graduation he was commissioned a Captain in the U.S. Army where he served four years with duty assignments at the 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt, West Germany and Raider Army Medical Clinic in Fort Myer, Virginia. Upon separation from the Army, Dr. Ayuso worked in various clinics around Northern Virginia before relocating to Jacksonville, North Carolina where he practiced for 28 years before joining Wilmington Eye.
